The services and assistance you receive through private care providers may be in addition to what the government-funded subsidy covers, or can bridge a gap to access in-home care while waiting for your approval.
How does private in-home care work?
We know your needs are unique, so our self-funded home care is not designed as a one-size-fits-all solution. With customised private care, you can live the life you love... without the waiting lists.
Private care has no eligibility requirements
All in-home care services provided by Amana Living are available on a fee-paying basis, meaning they can start immediately. There is no government assessment required to be eligible for private care. By choosing Amana Living as your home care provider, you’ll work with a team committed to understanding and meeting your support needs.
Flexible care in your own home
Whether it’s help with daily chores for a few hours or short-term care after a stay in hospital, our focus is entirely on providing the support that's right for you.
If you have a home care package or Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP) and need more help than what is in your budget, like a few extra hours of support each week, our private services can cover that too.
Getting started with Amana Living’s private in-home care:
- Contact our Home Care team, who will tailor-make a plan to suit what is best for you.
- At the end of each month, we’ll provide you with an invoice for the private services you’ve used.
- You pay in the way that suits you best.

Private home care costs
What you will pay for your private care plan depends on a few factors:
- Frequency of services
- Types of service (e.g. nursing, domestic tasks, gardening)
- Whether or not you qualify for, and are approved for, an aged care subsidy

Stay in your home, safely
With this fee-paying alternative, no aged care assessment or subsidy is required – aid is accessible immediately, so you can stay independent.
Perhaps you need a few hours of extra help around the house; perhaps someone to take your pet for a walk if you are unable to do so, or help with the laundry or cleaning. You have full control over the frequency of these services from private carers; whether you need them as a one-off, or once a week for the foreseeable future.
What matters is you, and what you need for support to remain comfortably and safely in your own home.

Private home care can help when things start to get a little difficult to manage on your own. This might be in situations where:
- You are unable to do the things you want to do around the home and would like the support of a carer to relieve the burden of upkeep.
- You are heading home after an accident, incident or operation and need urgent care or support.
- You need short-term care coverage while your usual carer takes a break.
- You are not eligible for government subsidies towards home care support.
- You are on a waiting list to receive an assessment - or have been assessed and are now waiting to receive government-subsidised care - but you need in-home support to begin right away.
