Around 650 guests got together for the Amana Living Residents’ and Clients’ Party in HBF Stadium Arena on Thursday 15 October, 10.00am – 2.00pm.
Our unique annual event was a great success again this year. Residents and social club clients, dressed for the beach, arrived at the Mt Claremont venue in several coaches, buses and taxis. With the support of around 150 staff and volunteers, they enjoyed live entertainment, dancing and a sit-down lunch.
The ‘Beach Party’ theme had a distinctly tropical atmosphere, and guests got into the spirit by dressing for the beach and wearing Hawaiian leis.
Entertainment included live music from Chain Reaction, island dancers and African drummers performing and interacting with guests.
Either side of a two-course sit-down lunch, there was lots of dancing, and prizes were awarded for best dancers and best leis.
“The annual Amana Living party is designed to enrich lives by bringing us together for a really special day,” said CEO Ray Glickman.
“I’m proud to say that for many of our residents, this is the highlight of the year, which means we must be getting it right! It’s up there for me too as something I always look forward too – especially seeing our older generation getting up for a dance with our staff and volunteers.”
Guests who need walkers and wheelchairs are encouraged to join in the dancing too, with support from care staff and volunteers. And those who prefer to relax and watch are treated to a visual feast, with gentle lighting and a quieter time over lunch.
Our thanks to HBF Stadium, Akwaaba, Beleza and Bombshells, MC Tod Johnston, volunteers and staff who worked extra time to be able to attend and help out.
We are extremely grateful also to the Anglican Community Fund, and our sponsors, Seniors Own, JLT, Unicharm and Scarboro Toyota, and donors Glide Print and Total Catering Solutions. HospEquip generously loaned wheelchairs for use on the day.
