What's Happening with Home Care? 

The way you get support in your home is changing. Starting in November 2025, two current programs, Home Care Packages (HCP) and Short-Term Restorative Care (STRC), are coming together to become one simpler program called Support at Home.

Ultimately, the government wants to make it easier for older Australians to get the right help to stay living comfortably and independently in their own homes. At Amana Living, we’re here to help you and your loved ones understand these changes and live your best life. 

Who does the Support at Home Changes affect?

If you're currently getting help through a Home Care Package (HCP) you'll move over to the new Support at Home program with Amana Living in November 2025. Don't worry, your support and budget will stay the same.

If you started receiving Short Term Restorative Care (STRC) before 1 November 2025, you’ll finish in this program. If you were already assessed but didn’t start STRC before 1 November 2025, you’ll complete your program in the restorative care pathway.

If you're getting support through the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP), your services will continue as they are for now. The CHSP will also become part of Support at Home no later than July 2027.

How will Support at Home be better?

Amana Living is proud to be rolling out this historic aged care reform. It represents the greatest improvement to aged care in 30 years and will upgrade the support available to older Australians at home. 

The new Support at Home program aims to make things clearer and fairer for everyone needing home care, give you more say in the types of services you receive, and provide funding based on your individual needs. 

The way you apply for support will also be simpler, using a new single assessment system.
