Two cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed today in two separate incidents at Amana Living.
The first reported case was at the Amana Living Kinross Care Centre where a student nurse worked at the aged care facility this week.
The student nurse from the Kinross Care Centre is now isolating at home. The facility is currently closed to all visitors and teams are actively working to ensure the safety of all residents and staff. The centre is prioritising testing all residents as well as staff who have worked at the facility this week; and identifying anyone at the site who may have been close contacts.
The second case was an Amana Living Home Care community support worker who late last week visited clients at home in Perth’s south-east.
The community support worker who tested positive is also isolating at home. The Amana Living clients who were visited by the positive case and their families have been contacted and were advised to get tested.
Both the community support worker and the student nurse were wearing masks, are fully vaccinated and followed all COVID-19 procedures.
Amana Living is working closely with WA Health and the Commonwealth Department of Health to monitor the situation and to support contact tracing teams.
Amana Living CEO, Stephanie Buckland said the health and safety of their residents, families and staff is their highest priority.
“We are working tirelessly to protect residents, clients, their families and staff and to provide the public health authorities with the information they need to assist with contact tracing. Members of our specially qualified Infection Control team have been deployed to assist,” Ms Buckland said.
“We have spent the past two years preparing for a potential outbreak, and we are now putting our plans into action. The majority of our staff and residents are triple vaccinated and our procedures are in place to help minimise the impact on our residents, clients, families and staff.
“We are supporting the residents at Kinross Care Centre and their families to keep in touch during this time through phone and video calls.”
Amana Living is following guidelines from the public health authorities to ensure the latest infection control measures are being taken. All staff have been issued personal protective equipment.
