Short-Term Restorative Care for Older People

Older West Australians who need intensive support to help them remain living in their own home can now access a Short-Term Restorative Care program.

Amana Living is one of three Perth aged care providers approved to deliver the Government’s Short-Term Restorative Care program, providing a range of health-related services to stabilise a decline in mental and physical abilities, such as a deterioration in mobility. This decline may inhibit an older person’s ability to complete every day activities.

Give The Gift Of Music To People Living With Dementia

Support the Tune into Life expansion

In 2016 we piloted an innovative music program called Tune into Life to help people with dementia reconnect with deep memories and their loved ones.

The clients who took part in the pilot were happier and enjoyed better relationships with our staff, as well as their loved ones, through listening to music together.

Now, we want to expand the program to all our care centres in Perth and have created the Tune into Life iPod Drive to support the program’s expansion.

We need your help.

New Package Launched To Fill Home Care Gap

New Package Launched To Fill Home Care Gap

Older people waiting for a Commonwealth Government home care package can now access new support, thanks to Amana Living.

Currently older people can experience a delay of a few months between an ACAT assessment and the Commonwealth Government allocating a home care package. This can leave people without much needed support.

Amana Living’s Value Interim Package provides five hours of home care per week for services such as personal care, domestic assistance and meal preparation.

Despite the prevalence of dementia in our community, there is still a mystery surrounding it and misunderstanding about what dementia is, how it is diagnosed and treated. Here, we answer some of the most commonly asked questions about dementia.

The segment included an update on the current siutation with Home Care, since deregulation, and five customers also called in with their questions.
