Peter Arney Home residents are enjoying new, modern communal spaces following the official ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, 18 November. The event marked a significant milestone in the refurbishment project, which began at the Salter Point home in March.
Amana Living’s Chief Property and Retirement Living Officer, Rita Sheridan, was joined by resident Gail to cut the ribbon and declare the spaces officially open.
Rita said: “We love creating beautiful spaces like these for our residents. It’s wonderful to see how quickly they’ve become part of daily life. These are spaces for happy times, and we hope everyone enjoys them for years to come.” Gail described the new areas as “a lovely addition to the home,” and the sense of excitement was shared by many.
The transformation includes a range of inviting and practical facilities:
- A self-service garden café leading to a private dining room that extends the café’s seating when needed.
- A spacious outdoor TV area, perfect for movies or the big games.
- A spa-like hair and beauty salon.
- A serene chapel.
- A vibrant activities room called The Pelican Club.
- A new staff room with a dedicated outdoor patio.
- A physiotherapy room equipped with the latest tools to support resident care.
Residents have quickly embraced the new spaces, especially the café, which has become a favourite gathering spot. One resident described the barista-style coffee as “the best I’ve had in years,” while a family member praised the café as a “welcoming space that draws you in.”
The refurbishment project is part of Amana Living’s commitment to creating warm, contemporary living environments that support relaxation, socialising, and wellness. In addition to the newly opened communal areas, one house has already been refurbished, with a further two scheduled for completion before Christmas.
The project is progressing well and is on track to be finished by the third quarter of 2025. For further information, contact the project team via pahproject@amanaliving.com.au or visit the Peter Arney Home project page - https://www.amanaliving.com.au/pah-project.
