New Package Launched To Fill Home Care Gap

New Package Launched To Fill Home Care Gap

Older people waiting for a Commonwealth Government home care package can now access new support, thanks to Amana Living.

Currently older people can experience a delay of a few months between an ACAT assessment and the Commonwealth Government allocating a home care package. This can leave people without much needed support.

Amana Living’s Value Interim Package provides five hours of home care per week for services such as personal care, domestic assistance and meal preparation.

Amana Living's fortnightly 6PR segment - Home Care Revisited

Amana Living's fortnightly 6PR segment

The third talkback segment on 6PR took place on Wednesday and we revisited Home Care to discuss the impact after deregulation.  Our experts were Leonie Demunck, Home Care Coordinator, and Greg Massam, General Manager for Marketing & Commercial Services.

The segment included an update on the current siutation with Home Care, since deregulation, and five customers also called in with their questions.

Home Care Changes and How to Access Support at Home

HOME CARE CHANGES AND HOW TO ACCESS SUPPORT AT HOME

Living at home for longer is now easier for older people than ever before and thanks to new reforms being introduced on 27 February; older people will have even greater control over their own care.

The reforms, called Increasing Choices in Home Care, will see home care funding allocated to the consumer instead of to an approved service provider.

How to access in-home services

You can purchase in-home services on a full fee-for-service basis. Depending on your needs and preferences, you may be eligible for a Government subsidy. The following information is also available in the Home Care section of our website.

Subsidised services fall into two categories: Home and Community Care and Packaged Care. Once you know what you are eligible for, or if you simply want to purchase services without applying for Government support, get in touch with us.

Virtual support for people living with dementia

In a national first, Amana Living has launched eConnect, a virtual support service for people living with dementia. Peter Mildenhall (General Manager Corporate Assets) explains how it works.

Amana Living has partnered with Telstra Health to use its MyCareManager eHealth platform to deliver the new service, Amana Living eConnect.

Video conferencing and telemonitoring allow more one-to-one support for our clients and their carers, whether that’s counselling, helping them to access services or managing their health.

Home care options include social outings

Home care isn't just about having services delivered to your doorstep. The package we put together for you will depend on what you think will make your life better, more enriched, more independent.

This photo was taken on an outing with our Kites social program. Groups of people are matched for their interests and preferences. Then we organise trips and support them with any needs or requests they may have during the outing.
