Residential – Care Manager
I joined Amana Living in January 2002, undertaking the Graduate Nurse program as a registered nurse working at Peter Arney Home. Amana Livings' value statement summed up why I wanted to be a part of the organisation at the time, promoting positive ageing by practising compassion, justice and hope whilst providing care for our residents.
In my first role I was responsible for the clinical care of residents and for supervising the direct care staff on shift as one of the registered nurses at a 60 bed facility. This was the perfect place to develop my clinical and leadership skills and increase my knowledge base of the Accreditation Standards.
I then moved facilities within the organisation, taking on the hostel supervisor position at Wearne House. I remain working at Wearne today and am at present the Acting Care Manager.
Amana Living has always supported and facilitated my professional development and through the organisation I have completed certificates in Workplace Assessing and Frontline Management. Opportunities to participate in focus team projects and to assist in the roll out of a documentation project as a training officer have also been afforded to me.
