Before joining Amana Living, I worked for The Carers in the Community for nine years. I have now been at The Catherine King Day Centre for over 18 months and I thoroughly enjoy my job. I was attracted to the postion due to the opportunity to work with people with dementia. I also wanted to work with other staff because I had worked on my own in the community.
I really love doing the craft activities with the clients and cooking with the ladies. I also enjoy the sing-alongs and love seeing the clients enjoying themselves. During my time at Amana Living, I have completed a 3 day Dementia Training Course as well as a Certificate IV in Lifestyle and Leisure.
My most memorable day so far was when we took a group of residents to the Perth Museum and had a picnic lunch out on the lawn. The clients thoroughly enjoyed the day and we all had a wonderful time.
