Privacy

 1. Statement of commitment

 Amana Living respects the privacy rights of all individuals and residents working for and associated with the organisation. Amana Living is committed to ensuring that all staff and volunteers involved in the operations of the organisation at all times comply with the requirements and obligations of the Privacy Act 1988.

 2. National Privacy Principles 

Amana Living is bound by the National Privacy Principles and will act in accordance with these principles and the Privacy Act in all its dealings.

 3. Information Held  

A. Employees, Volunteers, Students and Contractors 

Amana Living holds certain information that relates to its employees, volunteers, students and contractors. All information is securely held. This information includes but is not limited to -

 Home address, gender, date of birth, language spoken, employment history, educational qualifications, pre-employment medical information, and details of contacts in the event of an emergency.

Information documenting the work history of these individuals such as their application for employment, letter of appointment, remuneration, appraisals and performance management documents, sick leave taken.

Payroll information such as bank account details and Tax file numbers.

B. Residents

 By the very nature of Amana Living core business, personal and health care information of residents is held at individual Amana Living centres, including head office. All information is securely held. This information includes but is not exclusive to:

Personal health and medical information collected on entering a centre and updated thereafter. This information is for the benefit of the residents wellbeing, safety and care and maybe passed onto other health care professionals and services, such as; pathology, doctors, emergency departments and so on.

Personal details, such as, nationality, religion, next of kin contact details and so on.

Financial information - Financial status on entering a centre, which translates to contracts, accommodation bonds and charges, weekly fees and charges, maintenance rent, and so on.

C. Website

When you look at this Web site, our Web Server makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes:

your server address

your top level domain name (for example .com, .gov, .au, .uk etc)

the date and time of your visit to the site

the pages you accessed and documents downloaded

the previous site you have visited

the type of browser you are using.

This information about your use is only analysed on a bulk basis for broad demographic content. Individual use is not analysed. 

If you use the Web site to complete an online application form, we will only collect the information contained in that application form if you submit the form to us. If you log out of the Web site or cancel the application prior to submitting the form, the information you had entered will be automatically deleted.

We will only record your e-mail address if you send us a message. Your e-mail address will only be used for the purpose for which you have provided it and it will not be added to a mailing list or used for any other purpose without your consent.

We will not use or disclose information collected about you, including information collected using cookies, other than for a purpose made known to you, a purpose you would reasonably expect, a purpose required, authorised or permitted by or under any law, or a purpose otherwise authorised by you.

If you tell us you do not wish to have your personal information used for a particular purpose, we will respect your wishes.

Cookies are pieces of information that a Web site transfers to an individual's hard drive for record keeping purposes. The cookie assigns you an ID which allows Amana Living to recognise you when you return to the Web site. Amana Living may use "cookies" to deliver content specific to your interests so users do not have to register each time they use the Web site.

This Web site contains links to other Web sites. Amana Living does not control the content or the information collected on these Web sites. These Web sites are not subject to this Privacy Statement. Amana Living is not responsible for the content, policies or practices of such Web sites. Amana Living encourages you to review the privacy policies on other Web sites before you disclose any information to these other parties. 

D. Why hold this information:

There are a variety of reasons why Amana Living is required to hold this information. Some of those reasons include:

Ensuring that both Amana Living and any workplace participants are meeting their obligations under relevant legislation as well as their contract of employment.

Ensuring the health, safety and welfare of all workplace participants at times when they are performing duties for Amana Living.

Ensuring that residents care needs are met with quality and current supportive information.

Allowing appropriate insurance coverage for work place participants.

Amana Living will not disclose personal information of any staff member, volunteer, contractor or resident for any reason other than why it was collected, without the prior consent of the individual concerned. Amana Living Incorporated is the parent entity of Anglican Homes Foundation Incorporated and McCusker Learning and Development. Information on staff members, volunteers, contractors or residents may be shared between these entities.
